Beacons Fall to Buccaneers 15-10 in LEC Semifinals, Season Comes to a Close

BUZZARDS BAY, MASS. (April 30, 2026) — The UMass Boston Beacons' season came to a close Wednesday afternoon as the Little East Conference's third-seeded Beacons (11-8) fell to second-seeded Mass. Maritime Buccaneers (14-2) by a final score of 15-10 in the LEC Semifinals on the road at Clean Harbors Stadium.

How It Happened

The Beacons came out firing, jumping to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter behind goals from Jack Schartner (Bolton, Mass.) and Cole Allan (Falmouth, ME), including a man-up goal from Schartner off a Tyler Hilgert (Guilford, CT) assist. The Buccaneers answered late in the first with goals from Seamus Buckley and Ryan McDonough to cut the deficit to 3-2 heading into the second.

The second quarter was all Mass. Maritime. The Buccaneers rattled off five unanswered goals — including a man-up tally from Camden Stern — to take a commanding 7-3 lead at the half.

The third quarter turned into a wild back-and-forth affair. Mass. Maritime extended their lead to 12-3 before UMass Boston mounted a furious comeback, ripping off five straight goals in the final two minutes of the quarter — capped by back-to-back scores from Reilly Collins (Portsmouth, NH) and Matthew Konareski (Guilford, Conn.) to close the gap to 12-8 entering the fourth.

The Beacons pulled to within four, 13-9, on a man-up goal from Jackson King (Jamesville, NY) assisted by Hilgert. But Quinn Mucha — who scored four goals on the day — and the Buccaneers responded both times UMass Boston got within four, putting the game away for good at 15-10.
