Box Score WALTHAM, Mass. – A pair of hits in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted Brandeis University to a walk-off win over baseball by the final of 6-5 Saturday afternoon at Stein Diamond in the regular season finale for the Beacons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons scored all five of their runs in the top of the third inning after trailing 3-0 to Brandeis through the first two innings. UMB managed to hold onto their very slim lead until the final inning, when the Judges were able to knock-in both the tying and the game-winning runs of top closer Bobby Tramondozzi (Peabody, Mass.)
Despite the loss, the Beacons will now turn their attention to the Little East Conference Tournament, which is set to begin next Wednesday. The host site of the tournament will be determined this afternoon and will be played at Southern Maine or at Monan Park.
USM currently needs just one more win over Plymouth State to serve as the host for next week's tournament. A loss in their conference finale to the Panthers will force a tie and a coin flip to determine who will be the number seed.
Nick Herzog (Riverhead, N.Y.) had the biggest hit of the day for the Beacons in the form of a two-run homer in the fifth. Kyle Boudrias (Medford, Mass.) saw his run at history come to an end as he did not record a hit. His streak ended at 32-straight games, while his record of total bases reached safely ended at 48-games. Eddie Riley (Quincy, Mass.) posted a 3-for-4 day with two RBI and a run scored in the loss.
The Beacons featured a variety of pitchers in Saturday's contest. Ben Gottesman (Acton, Mass.), Matt Demma (Worcester, Mass.) and PJ McKermitt (Chicago, Ill.) where the lone hurlers who did not surrender a run.
BY THE NUMBERS
- With the loss the Beacons saw their 11-game win-streak come to an end
- The win for the Judges marked their first over UMB since 2017 and their first on their home field since the 2009 season
