CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—In their final match before Little East Conference play begins, UMass Boston swept doubles and cruised to a 7-0 victory over Boston rival Suffolk University at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In just their third match since returning to New England, the Beacons dominated Suffolk from start-to-finish, in a match that was called due to the building closing.
The Beacons swept doubles and won the first four singles points, before the match was called, with two singles matches still underway.
Sophomores Austin DeLasse (Mexico City, Mexico) and Adhirath Bhatotia (New Delhi, India) and freshman Josh Bhasin (Tulsa, Okla.) all went 2-0 on the evening.
DeLasse and Bhasin opened the match with a hard-fought 8-5 win at number one doubles.
The Beacons' pair of Guang Huang (Quincy, Mass.) and Vlad Leopard (Carnikava, Latvia) added an 8-4 win at third-flight doubles.
UMass Boston completed the sweep with a 9-7 lead at second doubles, as Jack Wang (Suzhou, China) and Bhatotia outlasted Chris Parnagian and Anton Boubnov.
Sanshrut Sharma (Mumbia, India) stayed hot with third-straight singles win, as Sharma earned a 6-4, 6-0 win at sixth singles.
The Beacons clinched the win at number one singles, with DeLasse picking up a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Alonso Vela.
Bhatotia followed with a win of his own, as the sophomore picked up a dominating 6-1, 6-1 win at fourth-flight singles.
In the final completed match of the day, Bhasin overcame a one-set deficit, to earn a comeback 4-6, 6-2, 10-7 win at second-flight singles.
Wang was leading 5-1 at third singles before the match was called. On court five, Suffolk's Boubnov was leading Leopard 5-2.
BY THE NUMBERS
- In an exhibition match at number four doubles, Zeke Hernandez (Baytown, Texas) and Hector Mata (San Salvador, El Salvador) grabbed an 8-2 win.
- UMass Boston earned their third-straight win over the Rams and improved to 18-13 all-time against Suffolk.
- The win marked the Beacons' first-shutout win over Suffolk since 1991.
- Bhasin snapped a six-match losing streak with his pair of wins. He's tied with Wang for the team lead with six victories.
