BOSTON, Mass. – With at-least one run in every inning but two and a combined 19 hits, the Judges of Brandeis University cruised past baseball by the final of 19-9 Friday afternoon at Monan Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Judges jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they held a 10-1 lead through the first three innings.  They then tacked on nine more runs over the next four innings to cruise to the victory. 

UMass Boston got their first run of the day in the second, before scoring two in the third.  The Beacons then matched the Judges in the seventh with four runs, and finally added two more in the bottom of the ninth, as they tried to make a late inning comeback.

Junior Dave Murphy (Plymouth, Mass.) was once again red-hot at the plate as he ripped two more doubles to bring the total to five doubles in the last 24 hours.  He also had two RBI, and a run scored.  Chris Fowler (Barnstable, Mass.) also made solid contact in Friday's contest as he recorded two doubles, as he finished 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.

Bryan Kaufman (Farmingdale, N.Y.) was handed the loss on the hill for the Beacons after going just 2.1 innings.  He allowed 10 runs on eight hits, and had two strikeouts and two walks.  Sam Miller collected the victory for the Judges, his second, after going six complete.  He had five K's, and allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits.

• UMass featured five pitchers, with rookie Corey Giguere (Blackstone, Mass.) recorded two scoreless innings to close out the game
