HOW IT HAPPENED
Roger Williams took control of Tuesday's in the top of the first inning as they put-up seven runs. They would then score at-least one run in every inning but the second, third, and ninth. The Hawks combined for seven extra base hits, including the first-ever grand slam and home run in Monan Park history.
The Beacons combined for a mere eight hits in Tuesday's loss and drove in two runs in the fourth, and one more in the ninth. UMass Boston's bullpen was on full display, as a total of seven different arms saw action.
James Leidhold (Mattapoisett, Mass.) had the best outing of any of the pitchers as the freshman went two complete innings and did not allow a run during that span. He would also record one of the Beacons five strikeouts.
At the plate, Dan Mantoni (Northbridge, Mass.) went 2-for-5. Dave Murphy (Plymouth, Mass.) recorded the Beacons only triple, while Luke Nagle (Pembroke, Mass.) and Chris Fowler (Barnstable, Mass.) each ripped a double.
