Box Score WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A 9-0 run in the seventh and eighth innings pushed Rowan University past baseball as they defeated the Beacons by the final of 17-7 Monday afternoon at the Chain Of Lakes Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite holding a 5-3 lead through the first three innings, Rowan exploded offensively over the final six as they outscored the Beacons 14-2 to secure the victory. Rowan combined for 23 hits, while the Beacons offense was held to just nine in the non-conference loss.
Dave Murphy (Plymouth, Mass.) led the Beacons at the plate as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Lionel Danielson (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) finished with three RBI and was 2-for-3 with a double.
Bobby Tramondozzi (Peabody, Mass.) was handed the loss after allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits. For Rowan they saw Ian Macqueen earn his first win of the year. Macqueen went 3.1 innings and allowed two runs on two hits, and also had two strikeouts.
UMass Boston jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top half of the first inning. Rowan would then respond with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. UMass then got another two runs in the second, but were equaled by their New Jersey opponent in the same inning. The Beacons managed to extend their back to two in the third, as they scored one more run. They would hold their lead until the fourth inning, when Rowan scored four runs to make it 7-5.
The Profs then made it a three-run game in the fifth. The Beacons finally got back on the scoreboard in the sixth inning with a pair of runs, unfortunately a seven-run seventh blew the game wide open for Rowan. They would seal the win in the eighth with two more runs.
