UMass Boston (5-0, 0-0 Little East Conference)
Salem State University (0-4, 0-0 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

After scoring their first goal in just the second minute of the contest, men's soccer struggled to find the back of the net for the next 66 minutes.  It was not until Barbosa ended, what was a 1-1 tie in the 68th minute that UMass Boston finally took total control of the non-conference match.

Mohamed Kenawy (Revere, Mass.) would make it a two-goal affair on a penalty kick in the 76th minute, and Barbosa would add his second marker of the night just over two minutes later, also on a PK.  The final nail was driven home by Barbosa in the 78th minute to seal the four-goal victory.

The Beacons 5-0 record to start the year, marks the best start in program history in just the third year with head coach Jake Beverlin at the helm.

The Beacons dominated the contest total 19 shots, 13 of which were on goal, while the defense limited the Vikings to a mere three shots on goal, seven total for the match.

Scoring the team's first goal of the night was Edmilson Barros (Praia, Cape Verde), also on a penalty kick opportunity.

Estive Sosa (Chelsea, Mass.) notched his second win of the year, after making just two saves.

The lone goal from the Vikings came from Caleb Gomes in the 14th minute of the first half.  Greg Enos made a total of eight stops, but was charged with all five goals against as he fell to 0-4 on the year.
