The Lions snapped a two-match losing streak against the Beacons, as they earned their second sweep in as many days.
Tuesday's loss snapped a two-match losing streak for UMass Boston, after big Little East Conference wins over Western Connecticut State University and Bridgewater State University.
Senior Charles Lai (Boston, Mass.) and sophomore Jack Wang (Suzhou, China) put up the biggest fights for UMass Boston, as Lai forced a third set at number one singles and Wang went to a tiebreaker in his second set at fourth-flight singles.
Eastern Nazarene got off to a quick lead with a pair of 8-2 victories at number two and three doubles.
The number one singles match was much closer, but in the end Sam McKay Corkum and Vladislav Tolmachev defeated the Beacons' pair of Lai and Austin DeLasse (Shrewsbury, Mass.) by an 8-6 score.
Eastern Nazarene left little doubt as to the final conclusion of the match, as they quickly earned singles wins at flights three, five, two and six. The Lions limited the Beacons to just eight total games across those four matches.
In the second-to-last match to finish, Wang went back-and-forth with Eastern Nazarene's Kevin Paterno, before falling 6-3, 7-6, with Paterno winning the tiebreaker by a 7-1 score.
Lai went the distance at number one with Tolmachev, as the pair squared off for the second time this season. Back in the fall, Lai defeated the freshman 6-1, 6-4 in the Championship Match of the Eastern Nazarene Invitational. Tuesday Tolmachev would get his revenge, as the freshman defeated Lai 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 in a super tiebreaker in the third set.
UMass Boston will return to action on Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m., as they take on first-time opponent Gordon College in non-conference action.
