HOW IT HAPPENED
In a rain shortened match, Barros did all the work for the Beacons as they tied the program mark for most wins in a season with 14.
The Cape Verde native gave the Beacons the only tallies they would need in the first 15-plus minutes of play, as he converted a feed from senior Estive Sosa (Chelsea, Mass.) in the 13th minute.
He would then net his second marker of the night after taking a pass from sophomore Joshua Khang (Brockton, Mass.) just 3:11 later to extend UMass Boston's edge to 2-0 at the break.
UMass Boston ice their triumph with three goals in a 1:45 span early in the new frame, as freshman Jacob Higgins (Cardiff, Wales) collected his first collegiate marker in the 50th minute. Barros closed out the scoring with his eighth and ninth goals of the season just 1:04 to secure the victory.
Senior Alfonso Rosales (Revere, Mass.) made five first half saves in goal while adding a pair of assists on the offensive side on the night for UMass Boston, while freshman Connor Murphy suffered the setback after making a pair of saves.
The Beacons outshot the Buccaneers by a 12-8 margin overall (11-5 on goal), while MMA tallied three of the four corner kicks.
