BANGOR, ME—For the third straight game UMass Boston fell behind and couldn't fight back to earn a victory, as Husson University (2-2-0) earned a 2-1 victory over the Beacons (0-2-1) at Boucher Field on Saturday afternoon.

After falling behind 2-0, Douglas Silveira (Revere, MA) scored an unassisted goal for the Beacons at the 69:34 mark to cut the deficit to one, but UMass Boston couldn't find the equalizer in the first round of the New Balance Challenge Cup.

Stefanos Galouzis (Watertown, MA) led all players with four shots and three shots on goal. While Reyn Johnson (Mangilao, Guam), Lucas Ordosgoitia (Cartegna, Colombia) and Silviera each had two attempts.

Phil Frost led Husson with two shots and one goal, while Trevor Higgins added the other marker with his lone shot of the afternoon.

The Beacons would amass 12 shots to just eight for the Eagles and also held an 8-2 margin on shots on goal. 

Brycen Dowd (Mansfield, MA) took the loss as he allowed both goals and made no saves in in 68:26 of play. Hector Mata (Roslindale, MA) played the final 22 minutes in Dowd's stead and did not see any shots.

Brian Potter earned his first victory of the season for Husson by making seven saves on eight shots.

Frost opened the scoring at the 63:57 mark when he took a pass from Cam Libbey and found the back of the net. The Eagles would tack onto their lead less than five minutes later, when Higgins scored off a pass from Andrew Austin.

UMass Boston will finish off their Maine trip with a contest against Maine Maritime Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
