Babson Hands Men's Lacrosse Non-Conference Loss

Box Score

BABSON PARK, Mass. – With 13 different players finding the back of the net Babson College handed men's lacrosse a 19-2 non-conference loss Wednesday evening at MacDowell Field.

Scoring the only two goals for the Beacons was Donny Delpha (Walpole, Mass.) his 16th of the season and Ryan FitzGerald (Abington, Mass.) his ninth of the year.  Babson's attack was led by Alex Patinkin who scored twice, while also assisting on two others.

The Beavers went on to lead the contest in total shots with 66, while UMass was able to get off a combined 21 shots, 10 of which were on goal.  Between the pipes Henry Bristol (South Hadley, Mass.) made a career-high 19 saves.

Babson also led the contest in ground balls having collected 63, while the Beacons totaled 29 of their own.  On clear attempts UMass was 12-for-28 overall.

Wednesday's contest did not off to the start that the Beacons were hoping for as the host Beavers scored the first 12 goals of the game.  Babson's defense held UMass scoreless for the first 45 minutes of play.

Delpha ended the Beacons long scoring drought on a man-up goal with 7:09 left in the fourth quarter.  Assisting on the play was Nate Staples (Salem, Mass.).  FitzGerald would then add the Beacons second goal of the night less than two minutes later on an unassisted play.

Men's Lacrosse returns to action on Saturday when they host UMass Dartmouth at 1 p.m.
