BABSON PARK, Mass. - Nineteen different players recorded points for Babson College as the host Beavers earned a dominating 22-2 victory over visiting UMass-Boston in a non-conference men's lacrosse contest at MacDowell Field on Wednesday night. With the win, Babson improves to 2-3 on the season, while the Beacons fall to 0-2.
Senior Armand Wilson (Fairfield, Conn.) led Babson with three goals and two assists for five points, while junior Cam Caruso (St. Charles, Ill.) added three goals and one assist for four points. Senior Nick Dager (Litchfield, N.H.) contributed three goals, sophomore Jamie Schmidt (Shelburne, Vt.) chipped in with two goals and one assist, and junior Jeremy Yudkin (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) netted two goals.
Defensively, the Beavers were paced by sophomore Mike Griffin (Duxbury, Mass.), who picked up seven ground balls and won six of nine face-offs, and sophomore Blake Dudek (Lancaster, Pa.), who added four groundballs and a game-high four caused turnovers. Three different goalies played in net for Babson, with first-year Adam Daroff (Pepper Pike, Ohio) making three saves and sophomore Ryan Lee (Wallingford, Conn.) adding another.
Junior Pat Driscoll (Hingham, Mass.) and first-year Tommy Petitti (Quincy, Mass.) each netted goals for UMass-Boston, while senior goalie Peter Towe (Hockessin, Del.) made 21 saves in net.
Babson dominated play from start to finish, scoring seven unanswered goals in the first and six more in the second to build a 13-0 advantage at the half. The Beavers would score six more goals in the third to increase its lead to 19-0 on their way to the 22-2 victory.
The game was somewhat of a homecoming for UMass Boston Head Coach Tyler Low. Low is a Babson College alum and played for the Beavers while in school.
The Beacons are now idle until Wedensday, March 23 when they hit the road to face Wheelock College at 3:30 p.m. at Pine Manor College.
