Beacons Sweep Beavers in Dominant Showing

Babson Park, Mass. (April 7, 2026) — The UMass Boston softball team (13-5) swept a non-conference doubleheader at Babson College on Tuesday afternoon, edging the Beavers 4-3 in game one before earning a 10-0 run-rule victory in five innings in game two.

Game 1 — UMass Boston 4, Babson 3

UMass Boston battled back from an early deficit, using timely hitting and capitalizing on Babson errors to secure the one-run victory.

Babson plated three runs in the second inning, all unearned, to take an early 3-0 lead. The Beacons responded in the fourth, when Liv Wentworth (Fitchburg, Mass.) tripled and scored on an RBI single from Amaya Rodriguez (Indio, Calif.) to cut the deficit to 3-1.

The Beacons evened the score in the sixth inning. After putting runners in scoring position, Mary Matthews (Wilsonville, Ore.) delivered a clutch two-RBI double to tie the game at 3-3.

UMass Boston took the lead in the seventh, as Mya Perron (Beverly, Mass.) came around to score on a Babson fielding error, which proved to be the difference.

Lexus McIntosh (Lancaster, N.H.) (6-2) earned the win with a complete-game effort, allowing three unearned runs on six hits while walking one.

Rodriguez led the offense with a 3-for-4 performance and an RBI, while Matthews drove in two runs. Ella Delisle (Amesbury, Mass.) added two hits in the win.

Game 2 — UMass Boston 10, Babson 0 (5 inn.)

The Beacons' offense erupted in game two, backing a dominant performance in the circle to complete the sweep in run-rule fashion.

UMass Boston struck for four runs in the second inning, highlighted by a three-run home run from Lauren Miner (Millbury, Mass.) to break the game open.

The Beacons continued to apply pressure, adding single runs in the third and fifth, along with a three-run fourth inning to build a commanding lead. UMass Boston finished with 10 runs on 11 hits.

Matthews paced the offense, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Miner finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Perron added a triple and an RBI, and Izzy Levasseur (Amesbury, Mass.) chipped in an RBI.

In the circle, Lauryn Meade (Hanson, Mass.) (4-2) was dominant, tossing a complete-game one-hitter with five strikeouts over five innings.
