BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. (April 29, 2026) – UMass Boston (23-11, 6-8 Little East Conference) powered past Massachusetts Maritime Academy in decisive fashion, sweeping the non-conference doubleheader 7-1 and 11-1 (F/5) at Rollins Field. Behind standout performances from Izzy Levasseur (Amesbury, Mass.), Avery Weinstein (Winnekta, Ill.) and a balanced lineup, the Beacons extended their winning streak to four games and secured their seventh twinbill sweep of the season heading into the regular season finale on Saturday.
How It Happened:
Game one opened with a decisive four-run second inning as UMass Boston jumped ahead for good, powered by timely hits from Levasseur and Mary Matthews (Wilsonville, Ore.). Levasseur starred as both pitcher and hitter, collecting three hits and earning the complete-game win. Lauren Miner (Millbury, Mass.) added a home run and flawless defense kept Mass. Maritime at bay.
In game two, the Beacons' offense erupted for 18 hits in just five innings, as Weinstein went a perfect 4-for-4 and Liv Wentworth (Fitchburg, Mass.) reached base four times and scored three runs. Hayley Krockta (Taunton, Mass.) drove in three, and Lauren Meade (Hanson, Mass.) tossed a five-inning complete game to seal the run-rule victory.
By the Numbers:
- The Beacons totaled 28 hits and 18 runs across both games.
- UMass Boston went a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts in the twinbill.
- Levasseur and Meade combined for two complete-game victories, allowing just two runs and no walks between them.
