BOSTON, Mass. (April 26, 2026) – UMass Boston (19-11, 4-8 LEC) delivered one of its most unforgettable wins of the season in the opener of a Little East Conference doubleheader at the UMB Softball Field, rallying for a 7-6 walk-off victory in nine innings over Plymouth State before falling 4-3 in a tightly contested nightcap. Sophomore Izzy Levasseur (Amesbury, Mass.) and senior Lauren Miner (Millbury, Mass.) starred in the dramatic comeback, while the Beacons combined for 26 hits and clean defense across both games.
How It Happened:
Game 1:
- Plymouth State jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the second, capitalizing on four walks and two singles to chase UMass Boston starter Lexus McIntosh. (Lancaster, NH).
- UMass Boston answered in the bottom of the second as Mya Perron (Beverly, Mass.) scored on an RBI single by Levasseur.
- The Beacons used a three-run sixth inning to claw back, scoring twice on a throwing error before Levasseur's RBI single tied it 4-4.
- After Plymouth State took a 6-4 lead in the ninth, Levasseur sparked the rally with a leadoff solo home run. Singles by Liv Wentworth (Fitchburg, Mass.) and Avery Weinstein (Winnetka, Ill.) set up Miner's two-run, walk-off double to center, securing the 7-6 comeback win.
Game 2:
- Plymouth State struck first with a two-out RBI single in the opening frame.
- Weinstein brought home Perron with an RBI single in the second to tie it 1-1.
- Three Plymouth State hits in the fifth extended the Panthers' lead to 4-1.
- UMass Boston loaded the bases three times but stranded 12 runners overall. In the seventh, Perron ripped a two-run double to left-center, pulling the Beacons within 4-3, but the late rally fell just short as Plymouth State turned a game-ending double play.
By the Numbers:
- UMass Boston tallied 26 hits across the doubleheader—12 in Game 1 and 14 in Game 2—while playing error-free defense for all 16 innings.
- Izzy Levasseur set career highs with three hits, three RBI and 7.2 innings pitched in relief to earn the game one win, also launching a solo home run to begin the game-winning ninth-inning rally.
- Lauren Miner ended game one with her 104th career RBI, driving in the tying and winning runs with a two-run double.
