Beacons Sweep Doubleheader over Curry

BOSTON, Mass. (April 23, 2026) – UMass Boston Softball (18-10) snapped a four-game losing streak in dominant fashion, sweeping Curry College in a home doubleheader at UMB Softball Field with a 9-2 win in Game 1 and a 12-0 run-rule victory in Game 2. Lockdown pitching from Lexus McIntosh and Lauryn Meade anchored both efforts as the Beacons built momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

How It Happened:

In Game 1, UMass Boston jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings and never looked back. Mya Perron (Beverly, Mass.) was the offensive catalyst, going 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored, including an RBI single in the first inning and a two-RBI single during a four-run fourth that broke the game open. Avery Weinstein (Winnetka, Ill.) added two hits and an RBI, and Hayley Krockta (Taunton, Mass.) contributed a double, two runs and an RBI. Lexus McIntosh (Lancaster, N.H.) was masterful in the circle, completing all seven innings while allowing just seven hits, one earned run, zero walks and striking out nine.

In Game 2, UMass Boston wasted no time, plating three runs in the first inning on an RBI single by Amaya Rodriguez (Indio, Calif.) and a two-RBI single by Izzy Levasseur (Amesbury, Mass.). The Beacons then exploded for nine runs in the third — highlighted by another RBI single from Levasseur, a two-run triple from Liv Wentworth, and a two-run home run from Krockta — to go ahead 12-0 and end the game after five innings via the run rule. Lauryn Meade (Hanson, Mass.) was dominant from the circle, tossing a complete-game five-inning shutout, allowing just four hits, walking two and striking out six.

By the Numbers:

  • UMass Boston combined for 21 runs and 23 hits across both games while allowing just two runs — one earned — and striking out 15 Curry batters.
  • Mya Perron (Beverly, Mass.) went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI in Game 1.
  • Hayley Krockta (Taunton, Mass.) went a combined 3-for-4 with two walks, five runs scored, three RBI, a double and a home run across both games.
  • Lexus McIntosh (Lancaster, N.H.) earned her seventh win of the season (7-4), striking out nine in a complete-game seven-inning effort in Game 1.
  • Lauryn Meade (Hanson, Mass.) earned her seventh win (7-4) with a five-inning complete-game shutout, striking out six in Game 2.

UMass Boston returns to UMB Softball Field on Sunday, April 26 for another home  Little East Conference doubleheader against the Plymouth State University Panthers. First pitch for Game one is set for 1:00 p.m. as the Beacons look to extend their winning streak.
