SECOND QUARTER SURGE PROPELS BEACONS OVER UMASS DARTMOUTH FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (April 15, 2026) — UMass Boston women's lacrosse (6-8, 4-1 Little East Conference) delivered a resounding 16-10 victory over UMass Dartmouth in an LEC matchup, highlighted by a spectacular offensive burst and standout performances from Morgan Holohan (Averill Park, NY) and Rae Alexander (Georgia, Vt.). The Beacons improved to their longest win streak of the season at three games and their strongest conference record to date.

How It Happened

UMass Boston seized control from the opening draw. Angelina Mazzone (Beveryl, Mass.) got the Beacons on the board first, finishing off a feed from Jamie McAleavey (Quincy, Mass.), and Holohan quickly followed with back-to-back goals — including a player-up free position score — to push the lead to 4-1. UMass Dartmouth trimmed the deficit to 4-3 late in the first, but UMass Boston would not trail again.

The second quarter was the Beacons', as UMass Boston outscored the Corsairs 8-1 in the period, with Holohan adding three more goals and Kaitlyn Ondrick (Westfield, Mass.) and Teresa Sheedy (Quincy, Mass.) each finding the net. Alexander orchestrated the attack with a series of pinpoint assists, fueling a commanding 12-4 halftime advantage that effectively decided the contest.

UMass Dartmouth attempted to close the gap in the second half, but UMass Boston maintained control behind consistent draw work from Sheedy and sharp finishing from Holohan and Ondrick. McAleavey contributed a key free position goal in the third quarter, and Alexander continued to facilitate scoring opportunities throughout. Goalkeeper Elizabeth Crowley (Medfield, Mass.) made seven saves to secure the victory.
