Beacons Blast Past Keene State, 18-11 on Senior Day, to Stay Hot in Conference Play

NEWTON, MA (April 11, 2026) — UMass Boston women's lacrosse (5-8, 3-1 Little East Conference) delivered an emphatic statement in Little East Conference play, setting a new season high with 18 goals in a decisive 18-11 Senior Day victory over Keene State at the Charles River Campus of UMass Amherst. The victory was fueled by a five-goal outburst from first-year Morgan Holohan (Averill Park, N.Y.) and a fourth-quarter flurry from senior Angelina Mazzone (Beverly, Mass.).

HOW IT HAPPENED

After trading goals in the opening minutes, UMass Boston seized early control thanks to a dominant first quarter. With the score tied 2-2, the Beacons erupted for seven straight goals — sparked by consecutive strikes from Teresa Sheedy (Quincy, Mass.), Jamie McAleavey (Quincy, Mass.), and Sheedy again before Holohan joined the surge — to take a commanding 9-2 lead after one period, the team's most prolific single-quarter output of the season.

Keene State battled back in the second quarter, but Mazzone and sophomore Kaitlyn Ondrick (Westfield, Mass.) answered with important goals to keep UMass Boston in front 12-6 at halftime. The Beacons maintained their edge through the third, highlighted by another Holohan strike and a player-up goal from first-year Lily Tillinghast (Cranston, R.I.).

In the fourth, Mazzone took over, netting three of her four goals in the final frame — including back-to-back player-up free position finishes that pushed the score to 18-9 and put the game out of reach. UMass Boston also saw strong contributions from Sheedy, who collected six ground balls and forced a team-high four turnovers, and Elizabeth Crowley (Medfield, Mass.), who made eight saves to anchor the defense.
