Wooster Overcomes Beacons in Texas Non-Conference Clash

GEORGETOWN, TX (March 19, 2026) -- UMass Boston Women's Lacrosse dropped a 22-5 decision to the College of Wooster in a non-conference matchup at Georgetown, Texas, on Thursday afternoon. Despite the result, the Beacons saw key contributions from freshmen Cadence Kelly (Binghamton, N.Y.) and Rae Alexander (Georgia, Vt.), who helped spark the offense during a resilient third quarter.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Alexander opened the scoring less than two minutes in, giving UMass Boston an early edge. That momentum was quickly stifled as Wooster responded with a seven-goal run, seizing early control. The Beacons kept battling, with Kelly tallying back-to-back goals—one on a free position shot late in the first quarter—to help close the gap to 9-3 after one.

Wooster's hold continued in the second quarter as they blanked UMass Boston 6-0, capitalizing on turnovers and limiting Beacon possessions through a decisive 20-8 draw control advantage.

At halftime, UMass Boston trailed 15-3.

In the third, Kaitlyn Ondrick (Westfield, Mass.) converted a free position shot, and Alexander netted her second of the afternoon as the Beacons produced back-to-back goals, showing fight and energy amid adversity. Wooster, however, kept their foot on the gas, closing out the contest with a 5-0 fourth quarter to seal the 22-5 result.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • UMass Boston converted 2 of their 4 free position shots, with Kelly and Ondrick each scoring on the opportunity.
