Seventh-Inning Surge, Miner’s Big Day Carry Beacons to Doubleheader Sweep

MELBOURNE, Fla. (March 18, 2026) – UMass Boston (5-1) swept their doubleheader at the Space Coast Spring Break event, rallying for a 10-6 comeback over St. Norbert and following with a 10-5 win against Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. A stunning six-run seventh-inning eruption highlighted the first game, while Lauren Miner (Millbury, Mass.) powered the Beacons offensively in both contests to cap a statement afternoon in Florida.

Game 1

• UMass Boston jumped ahead of St. Norbert in the second inning with an RBI walk from Sofie Richland (Burlington, Vt.) and a run-scoring single by Kayla Murphy (West Newbury, Mass.), but the Green Knights surged back to lead 6-4 entering the seventh. The Beacons responded with a massive six-run frame—capitalizing on a mix of hits, walks and defensive lapses—to take control and secure the 10-6 win. Lexus McIntosh (Lancaster, N.H.) provided four crucial innings of relief, striking out five to keep St. Norbert at bay.

Game 2

• In game two, Amaya Rodriguez (Indio, Calif.) tied the score in the third, crossing the plate on Miner's RBI single. Molly Wilson (Scotland, Conn.) gave UMass Boston a 2-1 edge in the fourth. The Beacons then broke the game open with a five-run fifth—sparked by an RBI single from Marin Prest (Warwick, R.I.), a two-run error, and another Miner RBI. MCLA mounted a four-run rally in the bottom half, but Miner's two-run triple in the sixth and Prest's RBI double in the seventh put the game out of reach.

By the Numbers

• The Beacons scored 20 runs across the doubleheader, collecting 22 hits, 16 RBIs and 11 stolen bases.
• Miner went a combined 6-for-8 with five RBIs, including a 4-for-4, four-RBI showing and a triple in game two.
• Prest finished game two 3-for-3 with two RBIs, a walk and an RBI double in the seventh.
• UMass Boston exploded for six runs in the seventh inning against St. Norbert and five in the fifth inning against MCLA.
• McIntosh struck out five in four relief innings, allowing just two hits and one earned run in game one.
