Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Beacons Blank Owls 4-0 From the Edward T. Barry.

BOSTON, Mass. (January 30, 2026) – The UMass Boston women's ice hockey team turned in a complete performance Friday night, shutting out Keene State College, 4–0, at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink behind timely scoring, disciplined defense, and a standout effort between the pipes.

After controlling much of the opening period, the Beacons broke through late in the first while skating shorthanded. Senior Emily Hansen (Lake Villa, Ill.) forced a turnover deep in the Keene State zone and raced in on a breakaway, snapping a shot into the top corner with 2:32 remaining to give UMass Boston a 1–0 lead heading into the intermission.

UMass Boston wasted little time adding to the advantage in the second period. Just 78 seconds in, first-year Aisling McFadden (Erie, Pa.) capitalized on sustained pressure, burying a rebound in front off feeds from Hansen and Cassidy Morrison (Fairbanks, Alaska) to double the Beacons' lead. The goal marked McFadden's team-leading sixth of the season.

Keene State generated chances at points during the middle frame, but sophomore goaltender Veronika Hadamovsky (Prague, Czech Republic) remained steady, turning aside every Owl attempt to preserve the two-goal cushion. The Beacons also killed off a second-period penalty to maintain momentum heading into the final 20 minutes.

UMass Boston put the game out of reach midway through the third on the power play. Maggie Lynch (Quincy, Mass.) found space in the slot and finished a crisp passing sequence from Jenna Fitzsimmons (Ashland, Mass.) and Shea Nolan (Quincy, Mass.) at the 16:40 mark to make it 3–0.

With Keene State pulling its goalie late, first-year Cadence Kelly (Binghamton, N.Y.) sealed the result, firing a long empty-net goal from the defensive zone for her first collegiate tally with 53 seconds remaining.

Hadamovsky stopped all 18 shots she faced to earn her first career shutout with the Beacons, anchoring a defensive effort that limited the Owls to few second-chance opportunities throughout the night.

UMass Boston closed the evening with a 4–0 victory on home ice, showcasing depth scoring, special teams execution, and composure from start to finish.

The Beacons return to action against Keene State on Saturday, January 31 at 3:00 p.m. from the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink.
