BOSTON, Mass. (Jan. 31, 2026) — The UMass Boston Beacons women's ice hockey team (11-6-2, 7-4-1 LEC) earned a 2-1 Little East Conference victory over Keene State (8-12-0, 5-9-0 LEC) on Friday at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink, thanks to a game-winning goal from Emily Hansen (Lake Villa, Ill.).
The first period ended in a scoreless stalemate, with the UMass Boston holding a 16-9 advantage in shots on goal. Sophomore goaltender Veronika Hadamovsky (Prague, Czech Republic) stopped all nine shots from the Owls after the first 20 minutes of play.
Just 20 seconds into the second period, Hansen tallied a power-play goal, off an assist from Cassidy Morrison (Fairbanks, Alaska), putting the Beacons up 1-0. UMass Boston killed off a penalty later in the period, carrying the advantage entering the third period.
Ava Iantosca tied the game at 1-1 for Keene State at 8:01 of the third period, with assists from Kenzley Goode and Emerson Spinale. UMass Boston created scoring chances down the stretch, but were unable to convert, sending the game to overtime.
The Owls were unable to create a scoring opportunity in the three-on-three overtime period, as Hansen netted her second goal of the game – the game winner – off the assist from Grace Lynch (West Roxbury, Mass.).
UMass Boston outshot Keene State 47-16, with Hadamovsky stopping 15. First-year Shea Nolan (Quincy, Mass.) won 12 of her 19 faceoffs as the Beacons held the advantage 32-16.
