BOSTON, Mass. (January 10, 2026) – UMass Boston junior guard Jordis Tautalatasi (Springfield, Mass.) delivered a standout performance with a game-high 21 points as the Beacons women's basketball team (9-5, 3-2 LEC) competed closely with Wheaton College (4-9, 0-0 NEWMAC) in a 59-46 non-conference decision Saturday afternoon at the Clark Athletic Center.
The Beacons worked to establish their rhythm early, with Tautalatasi and Tatiannah Fevry (Dracut, Mass.) helping to generate offense in transition. UMass Boston's defensive pressure created opportunities on the break, but Wheaton held an 18-9 edge after the opening quarter.
UMass Boston continued to battle in the second, getting to the paint and creating second-chance opportunities. The Beacons closed the half on a strong note, as Tautalatasi scored six straight points to help trim the deficit and send UMass Boston into the locker room with momentum.
The Beacons came out of halftime with renewed energy. Madison Haggett (Londonderry, N.H.) knocked down a three-pointer, and baskets from Sabanna Berrios (Providence, R.I.) and Fevry brought UMass Boston within five midway through the third quarter. The Beacons' defensive intensity forced turnovers and fueled their transition game as they continued to pressure the Lyons on both ends of the floor.
UMass Boston remained within striking distance in the fourth, with Berrios and Tautalatasi attacking the rim and combining for key baskets in the paint. The Beacons continued to generate quality looks and compete on the glass, but were unable to fully close the gap in the final minutes.
Tautalatasi finished with 21 points, six rebounds, three steals, and two assists to pace the Beacons. Berrios added eight points and four rebounds, while Fevry contributed six points, three assists, and two steals. Haggett chipped in five points, including UMass Boston's lone three-pointer of the afternoon.
UMass Boston will return to action next Wednesday afternoon, as the Beacons resume Little East Conference with a home matchup against the Plymouth State Panthers.
