BOSTON, MA (April 10, 2025) – UMass Boston Softball (20-1-1, 3-0-1 Little East Conference) extended its unbeaten streak to five games on Thursday afternoon, sweeping UMass Dartmouth (12-10, 0-4 LEC) in a doubleheader at home. The Beacons combined for 16 runs across both games, capped by a 7-0 shutout in game two.
Game One: Beacons 9, Corsairs 3
Graduate ace Jacqueline Cherry (Franklin, Mass.) led the way in the opener, going the distance for her ninth win of the season. In her 10th appearance, Cherry allowed just three runs on five hits while striking out six over seven innings.
UMass Dartmouth struck first with an RBI single in the top of the first, but the Beacons responded quickly. A three-run third inning, fueled by RBI singles from Haley Tilberry (Moosic, Pa.), Lauren Miner (Millbury, Mass.), and Bri Melchionda (Marshfield, Mass.), gave UMass Boston a 3–1 lead.
The Beacons broke the game open in the fourth with six runs on four hits. Sofie Richland (South Burlington, Vt.) worked a bases-loaded walk to bring in Ella Delisle (Amesbury, Mass.), Tilberry followed with a two-run single to right-center, and Amauri English (North Providence, R.I.) added a two-run double to cap the inning.
