Boston, MA (March 22, 2025) – The UMass Boston men's lacrosse team opened LEC play with a dominant 28-10 victory over Salem State University on Saturday afternoon, setting a season-high for goals.

How It Happened
The Beacons were relentless from the start, scoring 11 goals in the first quarter. They rattled off 14 unanswered goals before the Vikings found the back of the net.
Cole Allan (Falmouth, ME) opened the scoring with his sixth goal of the season, followed by Tyler Hilgert (Guilford, CT), who scored just 11 seconds later. Matt Hutchings (Mount Kisco, NY) netted his first of five goals, and Ryan Steckman-Buck (North Massapequa, NY) added the Beacons' lone man-up goal. Matthew Konareski (Guilford, CT) scored his first of the game to make it 5-0 just under five minutes into the first. Hutchings completed a first-quarter hat trick and scored four of his five goals in the opening period. Seth Libby (Pomfret, CT) added two goals, and Timothy Sullivan (Walpole, MA) scored to give the Beacons an 11-0 lead at the end of the first.
Konareski opened the second quarter with his second goal, followed by Libby's hat trick. Carson Meczywor (Adams, MA) capped the Beacons' 14-goal run before the Vikings responded. Konareski then completed his first career hat trick, followed by Duncan Youngclaus (Middleboro, MA), who netted his first of two goals. Meczywor added his second before Hutchings scored his fifth to make it 18-1. The Vikings managed a man-up goal, but Steckman-Buck, Adrien Fielosh (Orange, CT), and Sullivan scored to give the Beacons a commanding 21-2 halftime lead.
Youngclaus opened the second half with his second of the game and Dale Wills (Summit, NJ) added another to make it 23-2. Fielosh registered his second of three goals, and Konareski completed his four-goal game to close out the third quarter with a 26-3 advantage.
In the final frame, Joseph McCullough (Waltham, MA) scored his first career goal, and Sullivan completed his hat trick in a 60-second span. Fielosh finished the scoring with his first career hat trick, securing a 28-10 victory.
