Beacons Set New Program High in Win Over Buccaneers

Buzzards Bay, MA (March 12, 2025) — The UMass Boston women's lacrosse team moved to 4-0 on the season, setting a new program record with 15 goals in their dominant win over Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Wednesday night.

How It Happened

Hannah Rich (Rockland, Mass.) opened the scoring just under two minutes into the game, netting her first of five goals on the night. Jamie McAleavey (Quincy, Mass.) quickly doubled the Beacons' lead, scoring her fourth goal of the season. Rich added two more goals to close out the first quarter, giving UMass Boston a 4-1 lead.

The Beacons would go on to score the next nine goals.

In the second period, Ava Duffy (Quincy, MA.), Emily Pearl (Orleans, Mass.), and Rae Alexander (Georgia, VT.) would all score while a woman up. Angelina Mazzone (Beverly, Mass.), assisted by McAleavey, converted her second goal of the season while the teams were at even strength.

Duffy started the third quarter by completing her hat trick – the third of the season. Rich would score her fourth of the game before Pearl scored her second of the match to bring her to three goals on the year.

Rich would score her fifth goal to give the Beacons the 13-1 lead before the Buccaneers would find the back of the net for their second time. The Beacons didn't allow Massachusetts Maritime to find any momentum as Teresa Sheedy (Quincy, Mass.) scored her sixth goal of the year.

The Beacons capped off their scoring spree when first-year player Kheiara Vilus (Brockton, Mass.) scored her first career goal, bringing the total to 15 — the most goals ever scored in a single game by the program.
