Franklin, MA (Sep. 18, 2024) --- The UMass Boston volleyball team improved to 7-4 following their three-set victory over Dean College on Wednesday night. 

How it Happened 

The first set was the closest of the night with Dean holding a four-point lead late in the match, 20-16. The Beacons went on a run thanks to kills by Mya Perron, Lauren Westlund, and Mikayla Cleary to pull the score to 20-19 Bulldogs. A service ace by Mary Matthews brought the teams even at 21 and the Beacs wouldn't relinquish the lead from then on finishing the set 25-23. 

The Beacons ran away with the second set 25-13 and finished off the match with a 3rd set victory, 25-15. 

Inside the Box Score 

Lauren Westlund led all scorers Wednesday night with 16 kills. Toni Guerra was lights out on the service line with 8 service aces to bring her season total to 21. 

Next Up 

The Beacons travel to Northampton, MA. Saturday to take on Smith College. The first serve is scheduled for 2pm and the game can be viewed online on FloSports.
