HOW IT HAPPENED
Keene State got the scoring started on Friday night courtesy of a score from Giacamo Tedone. It took all of 17 seconds for
Greg Wolff to pull the Beacons back even, 1-1.
Nolen Beauregard and
Zach Mann matched Wolff's unassisted score, and
Mic Flynn scored unassisited to stretch the lead to 4-1 with just over four minutes to play in the first.
Responding to the Beacons' 4-0 run, Keene State netted four straight to take a 5-4 advantage. Bringing it back to a tie,
Sean Daly broke the seal with the Beacons' lone score of the second quarter with one second to play in the half.
Wolff reclaimed the lead for the Beacons momentarily in the second half, but Keene State's Colby Quiet knotted the score at six just two seconds later.
With just under seven minutes to play in the third, Daly took over, scoring a go-ahead goal and assisting his high school teammate Wolff to take an 8-6 lead into the fourth quarter.
Tedone cut the UMass Boston lead to one to open the final frame. The Beacons, however, took advantage of Keene State mistakes, scoring three goals in a row including two with an extra player.
Though the Owls scored a pair of late goals, Boldly's 19 saves on 28 shots were more than enough to secure the victory.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Daly and Wolff combined for 10 points on the day and have scored a collective 100 goals on the season
- Patrick Carey caused a game-high three turnvoers and scooped a game-high seven ground balls

WHO'S NEXT
The tie breaker for post-season seeding is based on numerous factors. Teams are all 1-1 head-to-head. The Plymouth State Panthers, Western Connecticut State Wolves, and the UMass Boston Beacons each went 6-0 against the rest of the LEC. There were no common non-conference opponents among the three teams, which means the tiebreaker for the one seed is decided on goal differential between the three teams. Western Connecticut will take the number one seed in the LEC post season based on a plus four goal differential, with UMass Boston and Plymouth State remained tied for the two seed. Because the Beacons defeated Plymouth State on March 30th, the Beacons will enter the LEC post-season as the two seed.
The Beacons will host an LEC semifinal game on their home field at 1 PM on Thursday, May 2. Their opponent will be determined by the quarterfinal games on Tuesday afternoon.
