Men's Lacrosse Toppled in LEC Tournament

BOSTON, Mass. - The season came to a close for UMass Boston Men's Lacrosse on Thursday afternoon as they fell to the Plymouth State Panthers in the semifinal round of the Little East Conference Tournament by a final score of 16-11.

THE BASICS
UMass Boston 11, Plymouth State University 16

UMass Boston (13-5)
Plymouth State University (14-4)

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers offensive attack got started with a familiar source in leading scorer Crosby Faye. Two Faye goals helped Plymouth State open up a 4-0 lead in the first eight minutes of the first quarter.

The Beacons got an equally familiar start to their offense as Sean Daly delivered an unassisted goal to get on the board. It was the seventh time this season that Daly has scored his team's first goal and the sixth time unassisted.

The Daly goal, however, was just a blip on the radar for the Panthers, who ended the first quarter on a 3-0 run and added another score in the first minute of the second to stretch the lead to 8-1.

Daly got back in action to interrupt the Panther party in the second, feeding his high school teammate Greg Wolff for his 50th goal of the season. Five minutes later, Wolff capitalized on a man-up opportunity to give him 100 career goals. He added one before the halftime break to sinch up the first half hat trick.

The four goals from Daly and Wolff were all the Beacons would get as they went into the halftime break trailing 11-4.

The Beacons went back to work in the third but so did the Panthers. Luke Murphy delivered a score of his own and dished out an assist to fellow senior Charlie Chapman. Wolff added his fourth of the day to boot but the Plymouth State lead grew to 16-7 heading into the fourth.

The Panthers went scoreless in the final frame while the Beacons scored four times including a pair for graduate student Zach Mann to bring his total to 30 on the season.
