Vermont State University Caslteton (3-13, 2-6 LEC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons got started in the way they often do with
Sean Daly forcing his way to the net to score an unassisted goal for the 1-0 lead. The Spartans' Frankenhoff brothers were quick to respond a goal each interrupted only by a Bowler unassisted score. With just over five minutes to play in the first quarter, the game was tied 2-2.
Daly grabbed an assist from
Zach Mann to break the tie, opening up the door for Wolff and
Nolen Beauregard, who went back-to-back to close the first and open the second. Sitting on a 7-2 lead, the Beacons were in position to take control of the game.
Shane McGonagle stretched the lead to six with his first goal of the day before distributing to Wolff for his second of back-to-back scores. With Wolff sitting on a cool four goal half, the Beacons led 10-2 with five to play. The Spartans got one back on the board, but Daly and Mann struck before half to stretch the score to 12-3.
Though Castleton opened the second half on a brief 2-1 run, the third quarter belonged to the Beacons. After setting up
Max Hamilton-Jones' first goal of the year, Mann delivered consecutive scores to mark his sixth and seventh points of the evening. Sandwiched between a pair of back-to-back goals, Wolff's fifth of the day set the table for
Mic Flynn to score twice in three minutes
Quiet through the first three quarters, Chapman got his senior day looks in, notching a pair of goals in the fourth quarter to salt away the victory.
