GORHAM, M.E. - Major contributions from their usual suspects lifted UMass Boston Men's Lacrosse to a dominant 22-9 road victory over the University of Southern Maine on Wednesday night. The Beacons improved to 5-1 in Little East Conference play behind 14 combined points from
Greg Wolff and
Zach Mann.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons famed "Kingston Connection got things started in the opening minutes of the game with
Sean Daly and Wolff finding the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.
Caesar Hendricks added a third goal, but the Huskies battled back to knot the game at 3-3.Â
Mann closed out the first and opened the second with assists, supplying Wolff and
Luke Murphy to reclaim the two-goal lead, 5-3.Â
Taking over the offensive unit on his own, Southern Maine's Andrew James provided back-to-back scores to tie the game at five.
Needing a spark on offense, the Beacons ripped off a 5-0 run to close out the quarter, taking a 10-5 advantage into halftime. Wolff was once again at the forefront of the charge, scoring twice during the run to get himself to four goals in the half.
The third quarter saw the Beacons run away with the lead. Six different players recorded a goal in the frame to stretch the lead to 16-7.
Despite switching goalies late in the third quarter, the Beacons were able to hold the Huskies to single digit goals in the game. A third straight 6-2 quarter in the fourth saw them finish off the blowout 22-9.
BY THE NUMBERS
- James Boldy, Otto Kirleis, and Broden Youngclaus all saved more shots than they let in during their time in the goal
- Paced by a 27-28 performance in the circle from Matt Lucozzi, the Beacons won 31 of their 34 faceoff draws
- Wolff's eight points on five goals marked a career high
