HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game, but the Beacons were quick with the response.
Jamie McAleavey's eight goal of the season knotted the game at 1-1 just over 11 minutes to play in the first. The Beacons' first lead of the game came from the stick of
Angelina Mazzone, who turned a caused turnover by
Mia Boyd into her seventh goal of the year.
Hartford took the wind out of the Beacons' sails with an 8-0 run that spanned the end of the first quarter into the second.
Though they were interrupted by a pair of UHart scores, the Beacons finished out the half with three more goals.
Emily Pearl, McAleavey, and
Teresa Sheedy all touched the back of the net to cut the deficit to 11-5 at halftime.
In the third quarter, McAleavey capped off her second hat trick of the season with over 25 minutes still left to play. She was soon joined in the multi-goal club by Boyd, who ripped off back-to-back scores for the Beacons to cut the score to 13-8.
With just 23 seconds remaining on the clock in the third,
Liz Kramp capitalized on her second goal in three games to cut the deficit to 14-9.
In the fourth, the Hawks blitzed the Beacons like they had in the first, ripping off six goals to just one for the Beacons to take the game 20-10.
