BOSTON, MA ( November 15, 2024) – The Beacons women's basketball team looks to bounce back from the season opener on Saturday, November 15, against the Curry College Colonels from Milton, Massachusetts, in a non-conference basketball showdown.
Previously:
- Its been 18 years since the two teams last tipped off. In that matchup, the Beacons squeezed passed with a five-point 78-73 victory from the Clark Gymnasium. On the road historically, the Beacons are 3-4 against Curry, and average 54.13 points per game.
This Season:
- The Beacons enter the weekend following a season-opening loss to the Brandeis Judges. The new look Beacons fared well, but ultimately were unable to catch up. Junior guard Sibayla Jensen (Portland, Ore.) led the way in scoring en route to her first career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. As one of the longest tenured Beacons to the program, Jensen stepped up as a leader, and made her presence felt in the matchup against Brandeis. Junior guard Tatiannah Fevry (Dracut, Mass.) is blossoming into a star two-way player. On Wednesday, she added nine points and five steals, tied for a career-high on the defensive end of the court. Fevry earns her living creating chaos on the defensive end, and her signature dribble drive adds an offensive layer of depth to this year's squad. First-year forward, Ashleigh Lagor (Millbury, Mass.), also shows promise as a post precisionist, providing shot creativity on the offensive end, and physical toughness on the defensive end.
- In their opening loss against Wheaton College, the Colonels had a pair of 12 point scorers by guards Cherry Emerson and Lauren Dunn, each of them hit a pair of threes in the effort. Senior guard Kylie McCarthy is the primary playmaker with seven assists in her first game played. Sophomore forward Kasey Reeves leads the team in steals with three.
