GORHAM, ME (October 16, 2024)—The UMass Boston women's soccer team suffered a 5-1 defeat at the hands of the University of Southern Maine in a Little East Conference matchup from Gorham, Maine on Wednesday evening.

How it Happened
- The Huskies held home-field advantage and felt the full comforts of home. The Beacons' defense had its hands full with the force of USM's offense. Senior midfielder Julia McKenna tallied the first goal in the 11th minute and the third in the 40th minute to bring her season totals to nine, the team's second-leading goal scorer.
- The Huskies would put up four unanswered in the first half. Beacons' first-year forward Sofia Schallmo would net the team's only to open the second half. 15 minutes into the half, sophomore midfielder Amanda Reagan (Pepperell, Mass.) provided Schallmo on her 13th goal of the season, a conference-high.
By the Numbers
- UMass Boston tallied six shots on goal, led by Schallmo with three. Reagan supplied the only assist for the Beacs. Junior keeper Julia Cote (Baldwinville, Mass.) played the first half and registered six saves, followed by senior Isabella O'Connell (Abington, Mass.), who took the reins in the second half and registered four saves. Cote is credited with her first loss of the season following 10 games prior.
