Conn. College Sinks Lacrosse In Non-Conference Play

Trevor Koppy made 11 saves against the Camels

NEW LONDON, CT - The UMass Boston Men's Lacrosse team continued to struggle on the offensive end, dropping their road matchup with Connecticut College by a final score of 17-6 on Tuesday evening.

THE BASICS

UMass Boston 6, Connecticut College 17

UMass Boston (1-3)
Connecticut College (1-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Beacons road tilt with the Camels began as a defensive struggle with Conn. College netting the only two goals of the opening quarter.

Offense became a factor in the second frame with the Camels matching their first quarter scoring in the first four minutes. The Beacons opening score came from leading scorer Gavin Admirand, who capitalized on a man-up opportunity with an unassisted goal.

Admirand and Connor Smith would each finish the half with a pair of goals, but all other Beacons combined for none, sending them into the break trailing 8-4.

The third quarter saw two new UMass Boston goal scorers in Timothy Sullivan and Charlie Chapman, but that was all the Beacons could muster as a team in the second half.

The Beacons lost the game by a final score of 17-6, their lowest scoring output since their loss to SUNY Cortland in the 2021 Division III tournament.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • The Beacons' goalies saved 16 Conn. College shots
  • Smith's pair of scores were good for his third straight multi-goal game in his four games with the team
  • This was the Beacons' first ever matchup with the Camels

WHO'S NEXT

The Beacons will return to James Cotter field on Friday, March 10 to face Norwich University in their final game in New England before traveling to Davenport, Florida over spring break. Their matchup with Norwich will start at 4 PM.
