New England College (0-8)
HOW IT HAPPENED
As has been the case in each of their last four games, the Beacons allowed their opponent to keep the score close in the early goings. With just over six minutes to play in the first quarter, NEC's Cam Hebert won the faceoff and went the distance to score an unassisted goal, cutting the UMass Boston lead to 4-3.
The Beacons managed to extend the lead to 8-3 by the end of the first quarter courtesy of goals from
Charlie Chapman,
Gavin Admirand,
Jason McNeany, and
Zach Mann, all of which came between the 2:12 and 1:21 marks.
Chapman would go on to finish the game with a game-high five goals, setting a new personal best for his career. Admirand, who averaged nearly seven points per game coming into the contest, outdid himself with four goals and four assists.
The offensive explosion at the end of the first set up a dominant second quarter in which the Beacons outscored the Pilgrims 14-1. All told, they held NEC scoreless for over 20 minutes of total game time while racking up 17 goals of their own.
The second quarter barrage was opened up by former New England College standout
Connor Smith. Smith, who now serves as the Beacons second leading scorer, made his presence felt in his homecoming game, netting four goals.
Jacob Banks capped off the 17-0 run with three goals over the course of three minutes to extend the lead to 21-3.
Banks finished the day with four goals and three assists for a total of seven points, all of which were career-highs.
The halftime break marked the end of the day for reigning LEC Goalie of the Week
Trevor Koppy who allowed just four goals in his 30 minutes in net.
The Beacons offense slowed down in the second half, but their 29 goals would be more than enough to take home their fifth consecutive victory by a final score of 29-7.
