Men's Lacrosse Dominates in Little East Conference Road Opener

BOSTON, MA - In their first Little East Conference game of the season, UMass Boston Men's Lacrosse rolled on offense and defense, defeating Plymouth State by a final score of 21-6 to earn their fourth straight win on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS

UMass Boston 21, Plymouth State 6

UMass Boston (5-3, 1-0 LEC)
Plymouth State (7-2, 0-1 LEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

In their first game action in over a week, the Beacons came out a bit slow, falling behind 2-0 after the Panthers scored a pair of goals in the span of less than 30 seconds.

The slump did not last long, though, as the UMass Boston offense rattled off six unanswered goals. Among the goal scorers was Gavin Admirand who took off his newly minted 2022 LEC Championship ring long enough to net his 27th and 28th goals of the season.

Both defenses stood tall in the second quarter, combining to allow just one goal on 20 total shots. The Beacons entered halftime with a 6-2 lead.

As they did to open the first half, the Panthers netted two unanswered goals to cut the Beacons' lead to 6-4 with 10 minutes to play in the third.

Charlie Chapman sparked the UMass Boston response, assisting Admirand's third goal of the day before netting one of his own, his second of the day. Jacob Banks would also add a goal to extend the lead back to five, 9-4.

The Panthers slowed the Beacons momentum with a goal that was quickly matched by Luke Murphy, keeping the lead at five, 10-5.

Plymouth State's sixth goal, which came with just under six minutes to play in the third period, would be their very last of the day. Across the final 20 minutes of play, goalie Trevor Koppy saved all seven of the Panthers' shots on goal.

Koppy played all 60 minutes in net to earn his fourth straight victory, saving 16 shots and allowing just six goals.

With their defense pitching a shutout in the fourth, the Beacons' offense finished the game with 11 unanswered goals. Among those 11 were two scored by Connor Smith who has recorded seven straight multi-goal games.

A complete effort on both ends helped the Beacons cruise to a 21-6 victory, their first in LEC play.
BY THE NUMBERS
