HOW IT HAPPENED
Luke Murphy wasted no time building on his already productive spring break trip, assisting
Liam Bowler on the game's opening goal and netting his own a minute later to give the Beacons a quick 2-1 lead.
Murphy has scored seven goals in the last three games while racking up nine assists for a total of 16 points. He accounted for just eight points in the previous four games.
The Beacons allowed the Foresters to stay in the contest early, holding a slim 3-2 lead with just under 9:30 to play in the first, before exploding for an 8-0 run spanning the end of the first quarter and the first five minutes of the second.
As they did on Tuesday, the Beacons shared scoring duties during the run with seven different Beacons finding the back of the net.
After a pair of LFC goals cut the UMB lead to 11-4,
Colin Ford,
Greg Wolff, and Murphy each had a turn to score their second goal of the game, sending the Beacons into the halftime break with a 10 goal advantage.
The third quarter saw a pair of goals each for leading scorers
Gavin Admirand and
Connor Smith, giving them each a hat trick on the day. Admirand has scored multiple goals in each game this season while Smith has done so in every game excluding the season opener.
The end of the fourth quarter once again marked the end of a quality start in net for goalie
Trevor Koppy. In 45 minutes, Koppy saved seven shots while allowing just six goals, bringing his goals against average to 13.77 after it had been as high as 18.23 earlier in the season.
The Beacons held strong in the fourth, going on to win the game by a final score of 27-9.
