HOW IT HAPPENED
After posting a season high 28 goals against Norwich University on Friday night, the Beacons wasted no time continuing their offensive explosion on Tuesday. Leading scorer
Gavin Admirand found the back of the net just over a minute after the opening faceoff.
Three FDU goals kept the score close early, but a 5-0 run to end the quarter gave the Beacons a commanding 9-3 lead going into the second. Seven different UMass Boston players contributed to the opening quarter onslaught including two apiece for Admirand and
Luke Murphy.
Admirand would finish the day with five goals and four assists for nine total points. Murphy stayed hot as well, finishing the game with five points on four goals.
The UMass Boston lead continued to grow in the second frame as
Colin Ford joined Admirand and Murphy with his second goal of the contest. Tuesday was Ford's second career multi-goal performance.
The Beacons went into the halftime break with a comfortable 13-6 lead over the Devils.
The third quarter proved to be more of the same success for the Beacons. Within the span of 16 seconds Admirand netted the team's first and second goals of the half.
Patrick Carey's fifth goal of the season with five seconds left in the quarter inflated the UMass Boston lead to 19-9.
The end of the third marked the end of the day for many of the Beacons' starters, including goalie
Trevor Koppy who limited the Devils to just nine goals in his 45 minutes in net.
The Beacons, who put scores FDU in every quarter, finished the game on a 4-2 run to finish off the victory by a final score of 23-11.
