BOSTON, Mass. – After an 11-1 game one win, Emmanuel College secured the sweep over softball with a 4-3 walk-off in the bottom of the seventh Thursday evening at Clemente Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Emmanuel's 3-0 lead was cut to two in the top of the fifth inning on a
Caley Ruggiero RBI single to right field. Unfortunately for the Beacons that would be their only run of the opener as the Saints plated eight runs in the bottom half of that inning to earn the run-rule victory.
Haley Catania went four complete and allowed nine runs, six earned, on nine hits.
Meghan Adams appeared in the circle for a third of an inning and allowed two runs on two hits.
In the nightcap, the Beacons would score all three of their runs in the top of the fourth inning. Emmanuel cut UMB's lead to one in the same inning before tacking on the tying run in the bottom of the sixth.
They would then seal the sweep in the seventh with a walk-off RBI triple.
Emily Doble went all seven innings and allowed the four runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking one.
BY THE NUMBERS
- With the loss Doble fell to 4-4 on the year, while Catania was handed her first loss of 2022 (0-1)
