CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Ryan Gebhardt scored six times as MIT handed lacrosse their first regular season loss since the 2019 season in the form of a 17-11 decision Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons came out strong in the first quarter, opening-up a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from
Darragh Fahey and
Luke Murphy. Fahey's goal extended his season total to 20.
Beginning the second quarter with the score tied at two, the Beacons were able to keep the game within one, netting three goals to four from MIT, keeping the score at 6-5 with just under five minutes to play in the half. However, the end of the second quarter saw four MIT goals within five minutes for which UMB had no response.
The third quarter was a back-and-forth affair with both teams netting five goals.
Michael Claflin recorded a goal and an assist in the frame
The Beacons could not mount a comeback in the fourth despite their best efforts. Claflin's third goal of the game brought him into a tie with
Gavin Admirand, who had one goal on the night for the team lead in points with 37.
UMB goalie
Christian Meinhold recorded 15 saves, while
Sean Cullagh led the defense with a pair of caused turnovers.
Jack Dobrzynski registered just seven face-off wins on 20 attempts, while MIT's Matthew Sardis went 21-for-31 on the "X".
