THE BASICS
UMass Boston 19, Plymouth State 7
Â
UMass Boston (7-0)
Plymouth State (2-6)
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
After starting slow in both games of their Texas road trip, the Beacons owned the first quarter in their first game back at home. UMB scored seven goals in the first, their second highest total in a quarter this season, while allowing just one Plymouth State score.
Â
The Beacons opened the game on a 6-0 run which included three assists for
Donovan Prozinski and three goals for
Gavin Admirand, who recorded a hat trick before the opposing team recorded a goal.
Â
In the second, Prozinski netted a goal of his own courtesy of team points-leader
Michael Claflin. Admirand added a fourth goal and an assist, finishing the half with five points.
Â
The visiting Panthers were only able to muster three goals in the first half as the Beacons defense was unwavering.
Patrick Carey led the way with four caused turnovers while scooping eight ground balls, good for second-best in the game. Four turnovers caused is the most by a UMass Boston player in a game this season.
Â
Plymouth State doubled their scoring output in the third, but could not keep pace with the Beacons, who posted five scores in the third and another three in the fourth on their way to a 19-7 win.
Trevor Koppy totaled 14 stops to earn his seventh straight victory of the campaign
Â
BY THE NUMBERS:
- Admirand's 8 points tie a season high for a UMass Boston player this season, as do his 5 goals
