Â
Gonzalez finished 5-11 from the field and pulled down a career-high nine rebounds-including four on the offensive end.Â
Â
Freshman
Paige Ollivierre (Newton, Mass.) added 12 points of her own, as she knocked down all six of her free throws. She hit the go-ahead free throws in the final minute and two key free throws with under five seconds to go to ice the game. Â
Â
Senior
Meg Dixon (Hanover, Mass.) chipped in a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds and hit three of the Beacons eight 3-pointers.
Keriann Farina (Arlington, Mass.) tacked on 12 points, a game-high five assists and four rebounds while playing all 40 minutes.Â
Â
Plymouth State's Alessia Salzillo matched Gonzalez with a game-high 13 points and Farina with five assists.Â
Â
Lauren Keller (10 rebounds), Jessica Ruiz and Sabrina Vlahovic all joined Salzillo in double-figures with 10 points apiece.Â
Â
After a Gonzalez 3-pointer on the Beacons' opening possession of the game, Plymouth State would control the rest of the quarter. The hosts took the lead with 4:12 to go in the quarter and closed out the stanza on a 12-4 run to take a 14-8 lead into the second quarter.Â
Â
The Beacons would turn the game on it's head with a dominating performance in the second quarter.Â
Â
UMass Boston scored the first six points of the quarter to tie the game at 14-14 behind three quick points from Gonzalez and a deep 3-pointer from Dixon. Vlahovic briefly gave Plymouth State the lead back at 16-14, only for the Beacons to outscore the hosts 12-4 over the final 4:15. Farina led the charge with five points, including an old-fashioned 3-point play that opened up UMass Boston's biggest lead of the half at 26-18.Â
Â
The second half would be much more even, with the Beacons leading by four to 10 points for much of the half.Â
Â
After going down 10 with 5:06 left in the fourth quarter, Plymouth State mounted a 10-0 run to tie the game at 51 with 1:34 to go. The Panthers had a chance to take the lead on their next possession but Dixon had a key block and Gonzalez grabbed the rebound.Â
Â
Ollivierre was fouled on a fast break going the other way and gave the Beacons the lead for good with two free throws with 55 seconds to go. UMass Boston forced another missed shot by Plymouth State and Farina went 2-4 from the free throw line to make it 55-51 with 19 seconds left.Â
Â
Natalie Harris cut the deficit to 55-52 with five seconds left but she missed the second free throw on purpose and Ollivierre grabbed the rebound and hit both free throws to seal the win.Â
