Rhode Island College Downs Women's Basketball

Meg Dixon dropped in 29 points in the conference loss

BOSTON, Mass. – A trio of Anchorwomen finished in double-figures to lead Rhode Island College to a 66-54 win over women's basketball Saturday afternoon at the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Madison Medbury led RIC with 13 points, while Meg Dixon (Hanover, Mass.) led all the players with 29 points after going 10-for-19 from the field, which included four 3-pointers. She also grabbed 11 rebounds to earn her sixth double-double of the campaign.

Rhode Island jumped out to an early 9-0 lead and never looked back as they look to stay atop the conference standings with only a week left in the regular season. They would hold a seven point advantage after one, before taking a 10 point lead into the break (28-18).

The Anchorwomen would control the scoreboard for the all the third period. The fourth and final frame, saw the Beacons chip away at the deficit thanks to a 12-point showing from Dixon. The Beacons outscored RIC 25-19 over the final 10 minutes.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • On the day, the Beacons shot 35.2% from the field and 85.7% from the line
  • RIC held a 37-33 advantage on the glass
  • Jasharee Greene (Boston, Mass.) was the only other Beacon to finish in double-figures with 13 points
  • Dixon's 29 points was her most since January 24 when she recorded a program record 35 points in the win over Castleton
  • All-time RIC is now 19-61 against the Beacons

The Beacons will travel to Southern Maine next Wednesday for a 5 p.m. conference game.
