GORHAM, Maine – Despite four of the starting five finishing in double-figures women's basketball could not rally in the fourth quarter as Southern Maine earned the 66-62 conference win Wednesday evening at Hill Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After leading by six (37-31) at the half the Huskies countered over the final two quarters as they outscored the Beacons 35-25.
Meg Dixon (Hanover, Mass.) posted the team's only double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. Jasharee Green (Boston, Mass.) matched the game-high with 19 points.
Keriann Farina (Arlington, Mass.) finished third on the team with 12 points, while
Vienna Monestime (Framingham, Mass.) posted 11 points.
Victoria Harris led the Huskies with 19 points on 5-of-11 shooting, which included a perfect 9-for-9 showing at the line. She also grabbed 13 rebounds as USM finished with a 42-36 advantage on the glass.
Michelle Rowe was equally as impressive at the line as she went 9-for-10, as she finished second on the team with 15 points.
The Beacons got Wednesday's contest off to a great start as they shot over 58% from the field. They then shot 40% from the field, including going 2-for-3 from distance in the second.
The Huskies used their strong free throw shooting over the final 20 minutes to earn the win, despite shooting just 38% and 17% respectively.
