HOW IT HAPPENED
Meg Dixon led all players in Saturday's loss with an impressive 23 points on 7-of-17 shooting, which included three 3-pointers. The senior also grabbed eight boards and handed out five assists.
Alexah Potter dropped in 18 points to go along with nine boards, and a season-high five blocks.
Despite not having two starters in the line-up the Beacons battled the undefeated Anchorwomen from the opening tip. Through the first half, RIC was held in check as they never led by more than two possessions.
The Beacons got a huge push in the third quarter to take their first and only lead of the day, thanks to a three from
Paige Ollivierre. Ollivierre made it a four-point game on her second straight three moments later.
Unfortunately, that momentum shift lasted for only two more possessions, as RIC went on a 8-0 run to take a 39-35 lead.
Dixon did everything she could to give the Beacons one last push hitting all three 3-pointers in the final nine minutes. Her final deep shot cut the deficit to two, but the Beacons would never regain the lead as RIC held on until the final horn.
