HOW IT HAPPENED

Four players recorded hat tricks and 16 players found the back of the net for the Beacons in the win over the Spartans.

Junior Gavin Admirand (Marshfield, Mass.) paced the attack with a team-high six goals and nine points. Darragh Fahey (Walpole, Mass.) tied his career-high with five assists and eight points, while Conor Lenfest (Walpole, Mass.) and Donovan Prozinski (Ashland, Mass.) each finished with a hat trick and a combined five assists.

Michael Claflin (Newton, Mass.) and Jack Riley (Wrentham, Mass.) each tacked on two goals apiece.

Senior face-off man Jack Dobrzynski (West Greenwich, R.I.) led the Beacons with 22 face-off wins (22-32) and a team-high 16 ground balls.

Collin Johnson, Chris LaBonte and Trey Lang each scored twice for the hosts, who suffered their sixth-straight setback to start the season. In the cage, Maxx Ingison and Chris Wilk teamed up for 18 saves on the afternoon.

Admirand opened the scoring with a man-up goal just over three minutes into the game. LaBonte answered for the hosts at 10:58, but it would be all UMass Boston from there.

UMass Boston responded with two goals in the next 33 seconds and eight-straight goals to close out the quarter (9-1).

The Beacons tacked on a season-high 10 goals in the second quarter to extend their advantage to 19-4 at halftime. They would keep the momentum going in the second half, as they outscored the hosts 11-2 in the final 30 minutes.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • UMass Boston scored a program-record mark for goals for the third in six games. The Beacons set the program record in their season opener last season with 26 goals against Husson University and tied that mark with 26 goals against Emmanuel College (Mass.) on March 4, 2020.
  • Admirand finished the contest with six goals, three assists, three ground balls and a team-high four caused turnovers. In six career games as a Beacon, Admirand has posted 57 points (36 goals and 21 assists).
