PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In the final Little East Conference game of 2021, women's basketball was unable to overcome one of their toughest first half performances as they dropped a 62-37 decision at Rhode Island College Saturday afternoon at The Murray Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Through the first 20 minutes of action, the Beacons were held to just 14 points, while the host Anchorwomen combined for 37 points, 23 of which came in the first quarter.
Rhode Island College, who is just one of two undefeated teams in the LEC, held the Beacons to three made field goals in the first half. For the first time this season, the Beacons did not have a player reach 10 points, with
Vienna Monestime (Framingham, Mass.) leading UMass Boston with nine points.
Anglinea Nardolillo led all scorers with 16 points on an 8-for-14 showing from the field. Antonia Corsinetti added 13 points, while Abby Phelan finished with 10 points.
After the break, the Beacons offense tried to close the deficit, but managed just 23 points combined over the final two stanzas. RIC preserved their comfortable lead scoring 12 points in the third, and 13 more in the fourth.
Kaylee Haynes (Bridgewater, Mass.) dropped in eight points off the bench, while
Meg Dixon (Hanover, Mass.) and
Sunny Green (Brewster, Mass.) led the Beacons starting five with seven points each.

WHO'S NEXT
The Beacons will travel to Brunswick, Maine to take part in the Bowdoin College Invitational. The Beacons will face the host Polar Bears on January 1 at 3 p.m. on the first day of the invitational. They will then face RPI on January 2 at 3 p.m.
