HOW IT HAPPENED
Ozzy Trail III scored what would be the game-tying and game-winning free throws to give the Lions the non-conference victory. In a back-and-forth contest from the opening jump, the Lions were able to counter a 5-0 run by the Beacons in the final 20 seconds of the second half.
Charles Mitchell (Boston, Mass.) cut ENC's lead to one (77-76) with 21 ticks on the clock. The Beacons then forced a Lions turnover, which set-up a made lay-up from
Emanuel Zayas (Hollywood, Fla.) giving UMB their final lead of the afternoon (78-77).
On what would be the final possession for the Lions, Trail was able to draw the foul and knocked-down both free throws to give ENC the slim one-point advantage. UMB turned to Zayas for the final shot, with the guard just missing what would have been the game-clinching basket.
Charles Mitchell ended the contest with a game-high 24 points, 15 of which came in the second half.
Charlie Mitchell (Boston, Mass.) finished with 13 points, while Stephen Digregorio (Marlborough, Mass.) dropped in 12.
Malik Lorquet (Sharon, Mass.) collected six boards, five blocks, and four points before fouling out.
Bernie McGuinness led the Lions with 17 points, while Trail's game-winning free throws capped-off a 13 point performance, which included going 8-for-8 at the charity stripe.
