SALEM, Mass. – Led by
Charles Mitchell's (Boston, Mass.) career-high 35 points, men's basketball ended a two-game skid as they earned their final non-conference win of 2021 with a 91-78 victory over Salem State University Tuesday evening at Twohig Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
With Tuesday's performance, Mitchell surpassed his original career-best of 34 points, which he recorded in the 2019-20 season. The senior guard finished 11-for-26 from the field, 5-for-15 from distance, and 8-for-9 at the free throw line.
Mitchell played one of his most consistent games of the season in Tuesday's victory. The Boston native dropped in 19 points in the first half to lead all scorers after going 6-for-14, 3-for-8 from behind the arc. He then held-off a late Vikings rally in the second half with 16 points, which included an insurance 3-pointer in the final minutes of regulation.
Off the bench
Michael Walsh (Marshfield, Mass.) played a career-high 27 minutes, while also finishing second on the team with 17 points.
Malik Lorquet (Sharon, Mass.) and
Ike Eluwa (Princeton, N.J.) both added 14 points, with Lorquet also posting 12 rebounds for his first double-double of the year. He continues to lead the Beacons defensively as he posted six blocked shots, which matched his season high.

- The last time that UMB faced the Vikings was on November 17, 2015 in the Clark Gymnasium
- UMB made their first trip to Salem State's campus since December 6, 2007
